THE LAW IN MALTA:

DO YOU NEED A DRIVING LICENSE?

WHERE CAN YOU RIDE?

Stay off motorways and high-speed zones – safety first! A fine awaits if you venture where you shouldn't. Everywhere else? Fair game!

 

REGISTRATION PROCESS:

• Insurance:
  • Purchase Third Party insurance (Should cost around €50/year)
  • Documents needed: ID card, Driving license, Speed certificate, Sales receipt, Scooter specs.
• TM Inspection:
  • Head to Transport Malta for an inspection.
  • Check the speed declaration and serial number match, and lights are operational.
• TM Registration:
  • Gather your speed certificate (now 'Approved'), insurance docs, ID, license, sales receipt, and scooter specs.
  • Sign paperwork, pay €10, and voilà! License, log book, and registration secured.

 

DISPLAY YOUR LICENSE:

Affix your rectangular white holographic sticker – your license – visibly on your scooter to avoid fines.

 

GOVERNMENT GRANT:

Don't forget! When you are at TM, Request a Government Grant application form at TM. Malta rewards green choices, so claim your well-deserved incentive.
